Welcome to the Hearts On Fiber Newsletter. If you are new to our weekly newsletters, here is some information about us. We have added all our past newsletters to our blog so if you want to go back and read about my irrational fear of roaches or how I lost my keys and found them in an unusual place.
I typically don’t listen to Podcasts or YouTube channels because I’m rarely alone with no one talking to me. This Sunday, though, I found myself alone and dyeing yarn. Luckily I noticed the title of the latest Cheers To Ewe Show, Top FIVE Myths of Yarn Shop Ownership. I had to watch or at least listen.
On Saturdays, I usually catch the first part on Facebook and am in awe of what’s on or off their needles. I’m pretty sure Sarah can do anything and very fast, and Ladianne, the sweater she’s wearing is stunning.
Then I look at my 15 unfinished projects and think I should probably cast on something else because I don’t want to finish that shawl. (said in a whiney baby voice)
This particular episode came at the perfect time. When you start a small business of any type, the ups and downs are so steep. I am either euphoric of what we are creating as a shop and community or think I’m an utter failure.
These myths made me nod yes and LOL. I appreciate Ladianne’s honesty, and I hope she knows how much I needed to hear that I am not alone in this yarn store journey.
Don’t underestimate your stories, your encouraging words, and shared experiences. Most of the time, someone needs to hear what you have to say. 🙂
