If you are new to our weekly newsletters, here is some information about us. We have added all our past newsletters to our blog so if you want to you can read more about my irrational fear of roaches or how I lost my keys and found them in an unusual place.
Guess what? This week we have another pom-pom camp. It’s from 1 PM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. Our store will still be open regular hours next week, but I wanted you to be aware that there will be a few kids in the store creating a giant yarn mess (I mean pom poms) from 1 PM to 4 PM.
We will still meet in front of the store for the Secret Society of Crafting (outdoors) on Wednesday from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Oh, and I have a fun class for you to try out if you’re available. See below!
Do you want to dye with Indigo? Here’s your chance. We have set up an outdoor class on Wednesday, July 22nd, at 10 AM to dye with Indigo.
For $50, you get one skein of yarn of your choice, the indigo dye vat, and a chemistry lesson from Dr. Annelise Gorensek-Benitez, Fiber Artist and Assistant Chemistry Professor at Davidson College. Sign up below!
New Dye to Order Colorways
Here’s a sneak preview of some Dye To Order yarn that will be out this week. Check our website on Friday to order the weight you love in the color you also love
“a craftivism project aimed at uniting crafters of all mediums to engage people across communities to spark conversation, engagement, and action in the political process to uphold social justice and human rights.”
We are happy to support emPower People. Download your free knit, crochet, or sewing pattern to make a purple bandana and wear it to show that we stand united and ready to fight for our rights and the rights of others.
We have purple yarn at a discounted rate, specifically for this project. We will be dyeing it to order this week!
SUMMER AND COTTON
|If I ever tell you I love dyeing cotton, I’m lying. I think I love dyeing cotton, but it’s a pain in the butt. For some reason, though, I’m determined. I keep at it because I know there’s a secret that I haven’t cracked yet. I will find a way to dye cotton that doesn’t involve rinsing out the yarn one hundred eleventy million times and still having the yarn bleed. |
I know this is a losing battle, but I’m going to do it! Meanwhile, you can see this beautiful hand-dyed cotton yarn. Guaranteed to bleed because that’s what cotton does, but oh so beautiful in color. We have several new cotton colorways in Worsted and DK weight.
Thank you for all your support last month we were able to donate $1,200 to BEAM.
Hearts On Fiber strongly believes that everyone’s mental health is essential.
We want to remove the stigma of mental health disorders and support organizations that focus on healing and health throughout marginalized communities.
We have a new project we are working on to provide education for our community members who are ready to take the next step in learning about systemic racism and microaggressions.
